LTI Safety Record Achieved for Iron Monarch Straddle CarriersAllied Shipping Services Company (ASSCO), which maintains our fleet of Straddle Carriers used to load and discharge steel slabs from the Iron Monarch, has achieved a record two years lost time injury (LTI) free to the end of September. ASSCO has come from an LTI rate of 158 in 2004 to zero. “We are all aware of how much effort it takes to achieve our safety goals,” said Mario Blasi, Manager Ports. “So, it is with much satisfaction that I'm able to report that, to the end of September, ASSCO had recorded zero LTIs and medically treated injuries – a great achievement. New Caledonia celebrates 10 years LTI freeThe Caledonian BlueScope Steel team celebrated 10 years lost time injury free at the Numbo site, Noumea, in early August. According to President Pacific Region, Denis Etournaud, this milestone is truly an example for other Caledonian companies where industrial accidents still occur. “At BlueScope Steel New Caledonia, everyone is aware of the risks of working in an industrial environment, which is why there is such a focus on a safe workplace,” Denis said. “Safety is not just limited to regulations but has become an integral part of the corporate culture. “We are working within the framework of a responsible company; one in which each one of us cares about one another and where safety remains a priority for everyone.” Marketing & Development Manager Didier Grosgurin encouraged employees to keep the focus on safety: “This performance proves we are on the right track.
